13 design versions in one night, then a mobile pass where every scene fits the screen.
Business context
What the client needed
A scroll film for a discreet matchmaking house: a wax-seal prologue, halls instead of pages, and six cities with live local clocks.
A house, not an app: no profiles online, no swiping, no leaks. The site had to carry that promise in every frame - and never show a face.
User stories
What people do with it
- As a prospective client, I want to understand how the house works before I write, so that I trust it with something this private.
- As a prospective client, I want to see the cities where the house works, so that I know it can meet me where I live.
- As the house, we want the site to show details and never faces, so that our promise of discretion holds from the first screen.

Key challenges
What made it hard
- 01Scrolling as a deck of scenes. One gesture moves one scene in 650 ms, the trackpad inertia tail is cancelled, keys work, and touch stays native.
- 02A mobile viewport that kept jumping. The document is locked and the body scrolls, so the browser toolbar stops resizing the page.
- 03A Safari-only crash. A variable named top shadowed window.top and took down the whole animation engine in WebKit.
