The article
When a company decides to outsource website development, it hands over three things: a brand, some texts and a date. What comes back is a site the business lives with every day: how it looks on a phone, who can change a price on it, whose name the domain is in. The second list matters as much as the first, and most pages that sell this service never get to it.
I have spent 18 years in software development. Since 2017 my company, 26 Lines of Code, has grown to 70+ specialists and delivered 150+ projects, and on a website our designers, developers and tester work as one team. Below: what outsourcing a website to us costs, what the team does from the first draft to launch, three ways to hand the work over, sites we designed and built, and what to agree in writing before you start.
Outsource website development: the short version
| What you need | What you get | Starts at |
|---|---|---|
| A business website | A design in your colors, up to 20 pages, an admin and basic SEO; the first version 5 business days after payment and your materials | $499, paid upfront |
| Online booking on that site | Clients book appointments on your site | Plus $500 |
| Online payments on that site | Clients pay on your site | Plus $500 |
| A site designed and built for you from scratch | Your own design, built, tested and launched by one team | A free estimate; then a fixed scope or time and materials |
| A designer or developers in your team | UI/UX designers and developers who work in your tools and your process | $35 an hour, depending on the role |
| Hosting and support after launch | Our servers, https, updates, fixes and help with content | $29 a month, billed annually ($348) |
Which row is yours: if the site has to present the business and bring requests, the first row is the whole answer, with booking or payments added when you need them. If your brand needs a design no one else has, or the site has logic of its own, it is the fourth row. If your team has the work and lacks hands, it is the fifth; agencies have one more option, white label, described below.
Forward this table to whoever holds the budget. Two kinds of terms apply in it, and the difference matters. The $499 website is a package: it is paid upfront, and its full terms are in its own article. A site designed from scratch, or a designer who joins your team, is outsourced work: on outsourced development and staff augmentation there is no upfront payment, and the first week is on us, so if it does not work for you, you stop and do not pay for it.
What one team does, from the first draft to launch
Splitting outsourced web design between a design studio and a separate developer is where many sites lose weeks: a layout nobody can build for a phone, a page the designer never drew, a form nobody tested. With us, web design and development outsourcing is one contract and one team: designers, developers and a tester working on one site. Here is what that team does:
- Pages designed in your brand, for you or your client to approve. A company brings its logo, colors and a few sites it likes; an agency brings its client's brand guidelines.
- Built by our front-end and back-end developers, so a form, a booking or a payment works on the server, not only on the screen.
- An admin where every text, picture and page can be changed, so your marketing team does not wait for a developer to change a price or a photo.
- Checked by our tester before launch. Our written website standard applies to every site we build: pictures sized for each screen and loaded as the visitor scrolls, a link preview card for every page, a description on every image.
- Launched on your domain, with https. You register the domain in your own name, and we connect it.
- Hosting and support after launch: our servers, https that renews itself, updates and fixes, from $29 a month, billed annually ($348).
On the package, the site gets a design in your colors; a fully individual design for your brand alone is the from-scratch row of the table, priced by the hour or by milestones after the estimate.
Web design outsourcing for your company, your agency or your team
There are three ways to hand the work over, and each fits a different buyer:
- A full team on the site. Our team takes the site from discovery and design through development, QA and launch, priced as a fixed scope or by time and materials. This is how most companies outsource web design and the build together; for a site with logic of its own, custom web development goes deeper.
- White label for agencies. Your agency resells the websites we build under its own brand and keeps the client relationship. If you would rather not resell, refer the client and earn a commission on every project, not only the first.
- A designer in your team. If you only need to outsource a web designer, our offshore web designers and developers join your team and process through staff augmentation, from $35 an hour depending on the role. Someone who does not suit you in the first week is replaced free.
When outsourcing the website is not worth it
Two situations call for something else:
- You would rather build the site yourself. A website builder and a few weekends do that job, and you need no one for it, us included.
- Your site is really an application: accounts, dashboards, data that people change every day. That is web app outsourcing, with a first version from $5,000.
For everything between those two, outsourcing the website to one team is the shorter road.
Websites our team designed and built
- Colchis: our own concept, from a name to production in one night. To show the whole chain, we invented a private travel house in Georgia and built it in one overnight session: brand, copy, design, build and deploy, 17 pages in two languages. The hard part was smoothness on any device: the site picks a quality tier from device signals, keeps measuring, and drops a tier after two seconds under 40 frames per second, so it holds 60 frames per second on every tier.
- Build Wise Investments: a contractor that has to rank city by city. A South Florida general contractor: 63 pages, 38 of them for the cities the company serves, and a mobile Lighthouse score of 100 in all four categories, up from 77 and 74. The hard part was the first screen on a phone: the loader was the largest paint and the hero pulled a 3840 px image, so the loader left the critical path, the styles were inlined and the phone's first download was halved.
- RIM International: a private matchmaking house told as a film. 13 design versions in one night, then 11 hours to a mobile version where every scene fits the screen, all of it in one HTML file of about 100 KB. The hard part was a crash only Safari showed: a variable named top shadowed window.top and took down the whole animation engine.
What the pages selling this service leave out
In October 2026 I read five pages Google showed me for this search. None of them says whose name your domain will be in, and only one says who owns the code. Four of the five never ask the browser to load a picture only when the visitor scrolls to it, and one has no link preview picture, so a link to it sent in a messenger arrives as a bare address. Five pages are a small sample, but each belongs to a company that sells web design outsourcing.
Whichever website development outsourcing company you pick, us included, agree on these in writing before outsourcing website design and development:
| Agree on | Why it matters | With us |
|---|---|---|
| The domain in your name | Whoever owns the domain owns your address and the email on it | You register it, and we connect it |
| The code and the design | Without them you cannot change developers without starting over | Yours once they are paid for |
| Analytics and Search Console | Years of visitor data should stay with the business | In your accounts, or in ours with full access for you, handed over whenever you ask |
| An admin for every text, picture and page | Small changes should not wait for a developer | On every site we build |
| What happens if you stop paying for support | A site should not vanish without warning | On the $499 site: offline after the paid year ends, with a copy kept for three months |
The technical checks, from link previews to picture sizes, are in the ten checks on our web development page; run them on any portfolio, ours included.
What moves the price of a site designed from scratch
A package has a fixed price. A site designed from scratch is priced from its scope, and the estimate is free. What moves it:
- the number of different page layouts the design needs, not the number of pages;
- each language beyond the first;
- the integrations: payments, booking, a CRM, anything with an API;
- who writes the texts, and how much content moves over from the old site;
- how many old addresses must keep their search history through permanent redirects.
You pay every two weeks for the time spent, or by milestones on a fixed price. Anything new gets its own estimate, and your approval, before we build it.
How outsourced website development runs
The path depends on the terms:
- The $499 package. You pay and send your materials: the logo, the texts, the photos and two or three sites you like. The first version comes 5 business days later. You get up to three complete redesigns, each round of comments adds 3 business days, and most sites go live within two weeks.
- A site designed from scratch. A first call, then our questions and a rough estimate, both free; scope, budget and timeline in a contract with our US company; discovery, where the requirements, the design and the technical approach are agreed before the build; two-week sprints, each closed with a demo; then our tester's check and the launch on your domain.
Your part is the decisions: one list of comments per round on the package; on a site from scratch, approving the design and coming to the demo every two weeks. Either way, you see the whole site before it goes live, and the people who build it answer you directly.
Offshore web design, contracted in the US
Contracts go through our US company in Miami, while the designers and developers work at our delivery center near Kyiv. Kyiv usually runs seven hours ahead of Miami, so a call in your morning lands in our afternoon. Offshore website development services often mean you never meet the people; here you know who designs and builds your site and write to them directly, and a new request gets a reply within 30 minutes on weekdays, 9 am to 6 pm Miami time.
As an offshore web design company, we are rated 5.0 on Clutch from 26 verified reviews (as of September 2026), and not one of those reviews is negative.
Where to start
Send a link to a site you like, or a few lines about the one you need: the rough estimate is free, and you know the price before any work starts. If the site is part of a bigger web project, see web development outsourcing; if you already have a site that needs a home, see outsourced hosting. Everything else we take over is on the IT outsourcing page.
